Statement of Faith

  • I believe in the Trinitarian God: One God in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” 1 John 5:6-7 NKJV
  • Jesus Christ’s deity, virgin birth, sinless humanity, substitutionary death, atoning blood, bodily resurrection, and ascension to heaven. “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God” 1 John 4:15 NIV. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV. “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” 1 Corinthians 15:4 NIV (also: Matthew 1:18-23; John 1:1, 14)
  • The entire Bible is God’s infallible revelation to man. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16 NIV
  • Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8 ESV
  • The resurrection of the body: eternal glory for believers in heaven and everlasting punishment for unbelievers in hell. “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” Matthew 25:46 ESV
  • The one true church, the body of Christ, which consists of all believers. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church…” 1 Corinthians 12:27-31
  • We have a responsibility to be obedient to our Lord’s command to lead people of all nations to faith in Christ and to grow in Christ-likeness. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen” Matthew 28:18-20.
  • Christ will come again! “For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 ESV
  • The Holy Spirit indwells and empowers believers and is given as a seal and a pledge of our inheritance in Christ Jesus. “…But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you…” John 14:15-31 ESV
